re: MGHZ, SHMGHZ

Ah, but Tai, you missed this one little tidbit of info:

But even here, the Pentium 4 beats Pentium III and Athlon chips in only one speed test: playing Quake III.

And, honestly, PCs are only good for gaming anyway. So that’s the most imporant thing to look at, even though they don’t mention if different video cards were used. That speed increase can probably just be attributed to the faster (read: more expensive) RAM used in the P4 boxen.

Kevin McBeal

I had an ‘Ally McBeal’ moment at Barnes & Noble today while standing in line to buy David Carson’s Fotographics. I saw the cover of the new ‘Time’ magazine, with a picture of George Dubya on it, with the headline ‘Person of the Year.’ And all of a sudden, I had a McBeal-like hallucination of me pulling out a gun and shooting him right in his stupid forehead, and his stupid brains splattering all over the backdrop of the picture. Then, I heard Isaac Hayes in my head, and started dancing to it.

Napster for Mac is Dead?

Ok, im pissed now…

I’m sure that all the Mac users that visit this site will remember Macster by Black Hole Media… right? Remember how Black Hole Media would update it every week or so… they did TONS of updates to it, always pushing its limits and capabilities… I’m sure you also remember Napster buying the Macster client a few months back.

So here’s my beef; WHY THE FUCK HASN’T NAPSTER UPGRADED IT EVEN ONCE!!! That sorry ass windows only piece of shit college kid company will never respect our version or give it the proper amount of upgrading and love it needs. IM FUCKING PISSED! If you are too, email these assholes and tell them about it.

Grrrrr.

I'm Going To Start Calling Them 'Papa No-Emails Pizza'

Now, I’m all for the online ordering of pizza, and I’ve used the Papa John’s online ordering system a number of times now. Tonight, I just realized something. Every time I go to order, I have to re-signup for the stupid thing because they never send me an email of my username and password. And if you have them email you your password, it takes up to TWO DAYS to get it, which is great, because I didn’t want pizza tonight, I wanted it next Thursday, I don’t think. So it’s just easier to sign up again every time. I guess I could actually use my tried-and-true username password combo, but for some reason, I didn’t use the same password last time that I normally use, hence making me come up with a less-rememberable combo. So I won’t be surprised when I have to re-sign up again next time.

Best Stock Photo Site

Are you a designer? Do you not have the same photographer friend I do? Then you might find some use in Photonica. It’s a badass stock photo site, with some awsome photographers and not-so-normal photos that you can hopefully talk your clients into buying. So check it out. The design is fucking awesome, too. Wow. I just used ‘fucking’ for the first time in weeks.

BlogVoices Slowing Site Down

If you happen to have a problem loading the site (the homepage in particular), it’s because BlogVoices seems to be overloaded right now, so it’s not responding. The script is hosted on the BlogVoices server, so I have no control over that. Sorry.

VaporWare2k

WiredNews has announced the reader-influenced ‘VaporWare 2000′ list of products that were supposed to be hot-shit this year, but turned out to be hot air instead. The number one? It’s what I believe to be a wrongly-accused MacOS X. Apple never said they were going to ship it this year, and they even got the Public Beta out in time. The reader comments Wired chose to publish were not only misinformed, but ridiculous. So whatever.

To spare you the retarded reader comments, here’s the list (4 of the 10 are games):

10. Tribes 2 (game)
9. Wireless Web Pads
8. Bluetooth (wireless technology… long live 802.11 (Airport)!)
7. Silicon Film’s Electronic Film system (a technology allowing the conversion of 35mm cameras to digital ones.. I never heard a thing about it)
6. Warcraft III (game)
5. Intel Itanium chips (64-bit processors)
4. New Linux Kernel
3. Black & White (game)
2. Duke Nukem Forever (game)
1. Mac OS X
